Tutorial: Topshop Sandstorm Makeup How-to!

May 9 / 11:23pm

Sandstorm-0043

Hello eberybody~ Today's post will be a makeup tutorial featuring Topshop's Sandstorm line of makeup!

But before we start, I'd like to thank Sonia for being my guinea pig model! Although I did the makeup this time round, my makeup-artist-friend Clarissa Glass actually came up with the look whereas I just butchered it with my own methods! Thank you girls :'D

We filmed an earlier version with Clarissa doing the makeup on me instead, but just look at my face and you'll know why we failed. Thank you to Seizure and Dinesh for being my camera(wo)men for the video tutorials!

Disclaimer: I'm by no means a makeup artist, so some of the makeup techniques witnessed here may be highly unorthodox! :o

  • Eyes - "Glint"
  • Gloss Stick - "Ablaze"
  • Cheek Duo - "Desert Sun"

Step 3: Using a brush, cover your lid area with blue "Solar Cell" pigments.

Step 4: Apply "Glint" eyeshadow to the outer third of your lid. Brush it along the crease of your eyes to create the illusion of deeper eyes.

Step 5: Sweep blue "Solar cell" pigments across your lower lids.

Step 6: Apply white eyeshadow or highlighter to the inner corner of your eyes.

Also use it to highlight your brow bone!

DIY: A cross between a dead bird and a pair of heels

Apr 1 / 2:13pm

After the photoshoot:

Before it evolved into a bird:

Before its death during the photoshoot:

(First photo by Togusa, Second photo by Lenne and the last photo by my handphone.)

DIY-ed a pair of heels for the Harper's Bazaar and ION photography competition! I did the right shoe while Seizure, who picked the wrong time to visit me, got bribed (a McDonalds meal and some home-made broth) into doing the left shoe for me. Truly an awesome friend.

At the end of the night/start of a new day, I got part of a feather stuck in my eye and Seizure found some feathers in her hair.

Special thanks to Jones for the heels! I hope you're having a great time in HK :D

The New Paper, The New Sewing Machine... etc.

The New Paper feature

How are you enjoying your Christmas? Last night, I unwittingly gave the MRT (Singaporean Subway/Trains) my handphone. And my heart.

Please don't ask how, I have no idea either. One minute my phone was in my hand, the next minute... it just wasn't. Now it's Christmas afternoon, and I'm still waiting for news from the SMRT staff. The weirdest thing was how the staff kept talking about it like people dropped their phones through the tiny gap daily. "At least it didn't land in the water! If not confirm cannot use!"

Right.

In much more uplifting news, guess what I got for Christmas?

A brand new sewing machine!!!!!

Remember my old header? (ÆTIENNE.NET: Threads. Photography. Fashion.) Well, apparently removing it from my header didn't work the boyfriend noticed that I've forgotten/ignored the threads part for quite some time now, and provided the perfect reminder.

He also commented that, "It has seven stitches!!! Does this mean you can sew faster now?"

Cute.

I'm definitely going to miss using my grandma's monster of a machine (right) though. Rather than throw out her old-school sewing machine in the 90's, she installed a motor and turned it into a hardcore hybrid.

Sadly, it has been dying/causing blackouts for quite some time now (resulting in the death of paperpatterns), and thus I welcome the new machine gladly!

So dearest readers, what would you like to see me sew/do a tutorial for next? But more importantly, what should I name the new machine?

Edit: My "love letter" to Yvan Rodic is up on his photo diary for the world to see! I'm embarassed but delighted. Thank you Lucinda for letting me know! xx
